Zygo is located in Felixstowe and directly connected to CHIEF (Customs Handling of Import and Export Freight) to
enable the fastest processing of import and export customs
clearance.
The need for an office at every
port has gone. Customs Entry Processing Unit's (EPU's) were closed at the ports
during 2004/2005 and now all Customs entries and payments are dealt with
electronically via HMR&C Salford.
Customs Clearance entries are
transmitted to the HMR&C National Clearance Hub in Salford. for departures and arrivals at
all sea, air and inland ports. Including
the sea ports of Chatham, Felixstowe, Grangemouth, Liverpool, Southampton,
Thamesport and Tilbury. And airports such as London Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted,
East Midlands, Southampton, Birmingham and Manchester.
Zygo is authorised to use CFSP (Customs Freight Simplified Procedures) and NES
(National Export
System).
